For most 9 year olds, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice plays like its parent: grotesque comedy running on fond memory. It scores 66 on the ScoutScore, in the Bold tier, even though every flag is a HEADS UP: the number comes from gore played as comedy, a woman stapling her dismembered body back together and a sandworm swallowing two characters among it, and a joke does not make gore lighter.
