For most 9 year olds, Masters of the Universe is early, and the reason is the villain, not the swordplay. It scores 70 on the ScoutScore, in the Bold tier, because Skeletor publicly executes a captive to terrify prisoners, orders his guards to kill women and children first, and the story ends with King Randor dying in his son's arms after a prolonged, tearful goodbye.
