For most 5 year olds, Moana 2 is a yes with one scene that needs a parent close by. It scores 32 on the ScoutScore, in the Mild tier, and nearly everything is adventure-comedy: coconut pirates, a giant clam, a sister's fear of being left behind. The exception is the climax, where Moana is struck by lightning and dies before her ancestors bring her back. It is brief and it resolves happily, but it is a real depiction of a hero's death, not a metaphor.
A ScoutScore is a living number. We re-check movies against the source and raise or lower it when we find something the first pass missed, so a score you see today can differ from one you saw last month.
Leaning yes. The Kakamora chase and the clam attack are fast adventure-comedy that small kids handle well. Moana's death and revival at the climax is the one scene to be ready for, since it is played straight rather than softened for the youngest viewers.
The target audience. The voyage, the songs, and the sisters' bond carry the movie, and the death scene becomes a moment of relief rather than fear once the ancestors bring her back.
Easy, and the themes about isolation and reconnecting with distant family land with real weight at this age, more than any of the movie's action beats do.
Nothing to manage. A satisfying continuation for kids who grew up on the first movie, with a genuinely moving ending for a sequel this broad.
