Is Wicked: For Good OK for a 7 Year Old?

Wicked: For Good (2025) · the answer, age by age

54
ScoutScore · BOLD

For most 7 year olds, Wicked: For Good is a yes with a darker second half than the first movie prepared them for. It scores 54 on the ScoutScore, in the Bold tier, and the difference is real: a sister dies in a cyclone, freed animals are shown scarred by their cages, and the story spends its last hour on loss rather than friendship. The songs still carry it. The ending does not let anyone off easy.

A ScoutScore is a living number. We re-check movies against the source and raise or lower it when we find something the first pass missed, so a score you see today can differ from one you saw last month.

Age by age

Under 6 DEPENDS

Kids who loved the first one will want this and many manage it, but the tone is heavier throughout. Nessarose's death and the caged animals are the two moments that land hard on small kids, and the finale is sad in a way the first movie never was.

Ages 6 to 8 DEPENDS

The honest threshold. The story is about consequences now, and a 7 year old who can sit with a sad ending gets a rich movie. One who needs the friends to end up together should know going in that they do not.

Ages 9 to 11 LIKELY FINE

The sweet spot. The politics, the propaganda, and the choice between being loved and being right all land, and the ending becomes the point rather than a problem.

Ages 12 and up LIKELY FINE

Nothing to manage, and often the better of the two movies at this age.

The bottom line

The sequel pays the first movie's debts in full, which is exactly what makes it heavier. Say yes to the songs, stay for the ending, and be ready to talk about why good people end up on opposite sides.
