Is Infinity War OK for a 10 Year Old?

Avengers: Infinity War (2018) · the answer, age by age

Written by FilmScout, reviewed by Ben Fedyniak · Updated August 23, 2026

87
ScoutScore · STRONG

For most 10 year olds, Infinity War is fine right up until the ending, and the ending is the whole question. It scores 87 on the ScoutScore, at the bottom of the Strong tier, because it opens with a beloved character strangled on screen, sacrifices another by throwing her off a cliff, and closes with half the heroes turning to dust while a teenager begs not to go. Kids who grew up on the series meet real loss here with no fix in the next reel.

A ScoutScore is a living number. We re-check movies against the source and raise or lower it when we find something the first pass missed, so a score you see today can differ from one you saw last month.

Age by age

Under 6 NOT YET

No. This is the heaviest movie in the series and it assumes years of attachment it then spends.

Ages 6 to 8 RISKY

Most kids this age have seen the earlier movies and want this one badly. The action is fine. The opening death, the cliff, and the dusting are the problem, and the last one lands hardest on the youngest fans. Know that the next movie resolves it, and decide whether your child can wait.

Ages 9 to 11 DEPENDS

The honest threshold. A 10 year old who can hold a cliffhanger for a week without distress is ready, and the ending becomes a powerful shared experience. One who takes losses personally should watch Endgame the same weekend or wait.

Ages 12 and up LIKELY FINE

The intended audience. The ending is the reason the movie is remembered.

Where the big moments land

The three scenes below are the three losses. The dusting is the one to be present for, because it is the ending and there is no scene after it to soften the landing.

The bottom line

Loss handed to kids without a fix in the next reel, which is exactly what makes it matter and exactly why timing counts. Pair it with Endgame and it becomes an epic. Alone, for a young fan, it is a rough week.
